printer settings, allignment and cartridge cleaning.

Asked by Deb

I have a little inexpensive HP Deskjet 2460. I used to be able to print out fairly good images. I've just installed Ununtu 10.(?). The printer doesn't print well anymore. I can't align the cartridges, or clean them. I can't get photo quality printouts anymore. I can't find setting for the paper quality. Help.

When did you last time used your printer and how often? By its structure Inkjet printers are very sensitive, it should be used more often because otherwise there is a chance for cartridge to suppress the printer head. My advice is to go to a local service to check the printer head first.

I changed the printer cartridges 3 days ago. I did a print test and everything looked good there. This printer, prints slow when its set on the high quality settings and using the high quality photo paper setting. I can't get to those setting anymore. When I print out an photo album page using GIMP or another graphics application, it prints it out very quickly and and with poor quality. As I said earlier, I can't get to any of the settings I need. I think its printing in the just normal, everyday print setting instead of photo quality.

The guide helped me understand the settings a little better. The print quality is better. I still can't align the printer heads or clean them. But your information was useful.
Thank you.

You can't clean the printer head by yourself, the head cleaning is a special process provided by authorized services. PS: I throw out a year old Epson D78 because of my negligence and rarely using once in a 3 month.

Can you help with this problem?
