i cant print with epson t20

Asked by fercho

i recently changed my operating system to ubuntu 10.04,while I used to work with ubuntu 9.1 it printed perfectly but now i can't.In the printing status it seems to be printing normally but actually the printer is not doing anything, and Im sure it works good cause i use it with other machine. I have tried reinstalling gutenprint but didn't work. Any idea? my printer is an epson t20. thanks

Finally I have solved my problem, doing something really stupid. To make my printer work the only thing I had to do was simply change the driver. Im runing it with an epson C66 driver and it is working nice. thanks

The same here with another printer, a Canon PIXMA iP90. It worked perfectly with Ubuntu 09.10 but does not work anymore since I upgraded to 10.04, the drivers are still there and the log shows that the laptop considers each printing task as completed, the printing queue remains empty, the printing status icon flashes and disappears in a fraction of a second but nothing was actually sent to the printer.
I already posted here with no success and am just waiting for this possible bug to be corrected (since upgrade to 10.04 cups was already updated once but no positive result here). As I use also Windows XP on this laptop (dual boot) I send all files to be printed to a Windows directory then reboot XP to do these tasks, I was expecting something better from 10.04 !

I eventually solved my problem by downloading the TurboPrint 2.15 file (http://www.turboprint.info/) and installing it for a free 30 days test period after which I shall have to buy a key to release this software, which WORKS NICELY.
