How can I install a Canon MX850 as a network printer?

Asked by Bob

I use a Canon MX850 printer for my home network.

I have been unable to print using Ubuntu.

How can I set up the network printer?

I have seen some postings about this such as :

     http://setdosa.blogspot.com/2009/02/setting-up-canon-pixma-mx850-on-ubuntu.html

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CanonCaptDrv190

I am new enough that I really don't quite understand how to take care of this. A solution would be greatly appreciated.

Ubuntu has the network printing facility which used to print through a printer which was connected to a windows machine.

Goto the following steps.I think it will help to.
goto System->Administration->Printing
Then
From that New Printer Dialog box,
U can choose Network printer.
If u installed ur printer through a ubuntu machine
goto
Network printer->find network printer->Host
In that field enter the host name.

If u installed ur printer through a windows machine
goto
Network printer->Windows Printer via SAMBA
It can be selected by the Browse button.

then click the Forward button and do the things as mentioned in that.

Congrats!
