'/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC420CN failed

Asked by Michael J. Kelly

This is my third attempt at getting help with my printer. Does anyone know what the above message means and what I should do about it? It was in the status window of the printer trouble shooter. Thanks.

Sorry, don't visit this area so often anymore myself. I have a Brother printer also (MFC5840CN); it looks like the lpr printer driver failed. I'm going to ask, because I haven't followed your attempts - have you downloaded the latest versions of the drivers from the Brother pages and installed them according to instructions? I used the drivers and installed from http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/index.html and they worked well until I installed an HP printer as well. (Linux itself doesn't seem to do well with 2 multifunction printers installed at same time.)
Keep your hopes up. Once you get it working, it will work completely.

I had the files from Brother on my desk top and decided to try to install them again. One of them was not installed though I have no idea why. Now it works. Thanks.
