The brother printer site does have drivers for linux but I can not get

Hi! Acording to the Ubuntu-Brother wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BrotherDriverPackaging), for that printer you need to install the following packages 'brother-cups-wrapper-extra' and 'brother-cups-wrapper-bh7'. In order to do this, you could go to "System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager" and search for the package, or just open a terminal "Applications->accessories->Terminal" and type in:

sudo apt-get install brother-cups-wrapper-extra brother-cups-wrapper-bh7

After this operation takes place, you'll might need to restart CUPS, you can accomplish this by restarting the computer, or typing the following in a terminal:

sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart

After this, the driver should be available from "System->Administration->Printers"

hope it helps!

I looked in Brother's website for Linux drivers for both printer and scanner of that model. Please follow the links below and download the .deb files.

Printer: http://bit.ly/9uWuqz
Scanner: http://bit.ly/axzwVQ

Hope that helps.

operating system, any more suggestions would be appreciated Thank you Lindsay Moresi

How about this: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/download_scn.html. There are .deb files that are for 64-bit. Please try also following the HowTo on this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=590793

Can you help with this problem?
