A continuous failure rate for the last few years, when is this going to be positive??

Asked by Dan Smith

My son decided to install Ubuntu. His mom and I lost him to cancer and now I am trying to learn. I lost a hour watching this last update feed in at a percentage per second and was deciding that its not working for my benefit. Can i get some confirmation that this is a problem that can be fixed or information on what to do, cant put up with this being strung out.

Sorry for your loss. I believe more information would help solve your problem. What release of Ubuntu? Check below site.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Look at the End of Standard Support. If you are using a release, that is not supported, you may have trouble with updates. Somewhat confused on your statement ( lost a hour watching this last update feed in at a percentage per second and ). I do not know what that means. How did you start the update? ( Software Updater of using sudo in the terminal ) It would be helpful to know make and model of computer. Amount of RAM.
Haven't used Windows in a long time. Ubuntu updates much faster than Windows.
