Update criu package in Jammy to 3.17

Asked by Aleksandr Mikhalitsyn

Dear friends,

Is it possible to update the criu package in Jammy to be based on CRIU 3.17?
In this version of CRIU rseq (restartable sequences) support was introduced, which makes the criu work with new versions of GLibc (where rseq is enabled by default), otherwise, users face crashes during the restore stage.

Kind regards,
Alex

Manfred Hampl suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #3037: “no rolling release”.

If the current situation leads to crashes, then please create a bug report.

As far as I can see, there is already a PPA with criu version 3.17 for jammy, https://launchpad.net/~criu/+archive/ubuntu/ppa maybe that helps.

Ah, okay. So, the only option for end-users, in this case, is to build CRIU from sources / or (possibly) use backports.

The PPA is the one we (the upstream maintainers) maintain with the latest version.

The CRIU package as shipped 22.04 is completely broken and cannot be used. It should be updated to 3.17.1, indeed.

Aleksandr, can you open a bug report as mentioned by Manfred.
