Crimson Fields not in "Add/remove" software.

Asked by Mondane

Hi.

Recently I found the game "Crimson Fields" (http://crimson.seul.org/) and wanted to install it in Ubuntu Hardy Heron. The first thing I did, was starting "Add/remove software" and search for "Crimson". I couldn't find it, so I used Google to search for an Ubuntu package. I found this result: http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/games/crimson .

Now I knew I could find and install the game with Synaptic Package Manager, after installation though, I can't find the game in the menu.

This leads to 2 questions:

1) What must be done to get "Crimson Fields" available in "Add/remove software"?
2) What must be done to get the game in the proper menu?

Thanks in advance, Mondane.

You probably will not get it to show up in add/remove, but this is not an issue as if you need to remove it synaptic package manager will suffice.

With regard to adding it to the menu, right click on it, and hit edit menus.

You should then be able to add new items where you see fit, to find the command to run browse to /usr/bin/ and locate something along the lines of the name of the package.

I can live with that answer, maybe the package maintainer can change the package in a way that future users can find the game with "Add/remove software".
