CompizConfig Desktop Effects Not Working

Asked by Greg

Hello,

I have installed CompizConfig Settings Manager but i can't get any of the desktop effects to work at all. I have tried this on two different computers and I could not get desktop effects to work on either one.

Also, when I go to System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects, none of them work either. A gray box just comes up that says "Desktop effects could not be enabled."

Any help with this situation would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Greg,

have you turned your graphic card's proprietary drivers on?
If you did it, verify that the package "compiz-gnome" is installed.

Hope I've helped you out.

Bye

Davide

If I go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, It says that there are no proprietary drivers in use on my system. But, there are also no drivers in the list for me to enable besides Alternate Atheros "madwifi" driver which doesn't apply to this situation.

Your graphics card isn't supported yet, you should wait for some time, and
after a while Ubuntu will release an update that supports your graphics card,
then you can have compiz :)

What kind of graphic card do you have?

Can you help with this problem?
