compiz package

compiz makes the screen black.....

i am having some serious problem with compiz. after installing the compiz, i made some settings change.....
the problem is when i click on something the screen goes black and i cant do anything. for this reason i am unable to use my pc. i tried to execute the command "melacity --replace" from the failsafe console. but it takes too much time to exucute...
i am in a big problem. please help me to solve the problem..

You can uninstall Compiz for now. Try this in a console (Ctrl+Alt+F2 even if the screen is black should work, returning to GUI Alt+F7).
Or you can enter a command line regime before logging-in via "Options" on the login screen, left-down corner. I suppose you can type the line

apt-get remove compiz

and hit Enter. But before please read the manual (it is not long) for this command typing

man apt-get
.
Then read the forums, there are many issues similar to your's.

i tried several things to uninstall or disable compiz. but none of them worked. so i had to reinstall my ubuntu...
