I am not able to change visual effects ?

Hi ,

I have installed ubuntu 8.10 from Live CD
and updated all the packages from update manager.(261 files)

But i cannot change my visual effect.
If i select "Normal" or "Extra"
It says desktop effects could not be enabled.
Please help.

If you cannot enable Desktop Effects it means that either your graphics card does not support them, or the driver lacks 3D acceleration.

Please post the output of these commands so we can help you:

lspci
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

What did you activate? The nvidia video driver?
