switching visual effects on and off requires me to redo all settings in compiz. help?

Asked by Vanostaajen

I own a laptop. Not because I'm switching from livingroom to bedroom and back again. But because I use it in class or on the train etc.

So for me, battery life is an important factor. And I know that lower graphical show off (like my cube etc.) gives me more pc time. But when I put visual effects to none(system=>preferences=>appearance). I have to check all the boxes again etc.

So does anybody know something like a button that allows you to turn on and off your preferred visual effects. Or some way to save those settings...

Or is that an Idea for the next ubuntu?

Hello,

There's a package called fusion-icon, with it you can switch between metacity (no effect) and compiz easily.
