Getting Compiz Fusion to work again...

Asked by gwotet

So I had Compiz Fusion working fine, then I thought that I would hook up an older monitor and dual screen. I got into Monitor Resolution, Detect Display, and then it made my laptop become the secondary monitor, and the other become the Primary. I tried to change it back. What resulted is now I have a permanent box in the top right, and the Window is reorganized. I just want at least to be to my default, then I can re-work Compiz Fusion. I am not to versed in Ubuntu 8.10 yet...

I also am getting the message that visual effects could not be enabled when in fact I have been using them obviously.

gwotet, you could press ESC during bootup and choose XFIX. that will probably get you back to the beginning.

also make sure you have the latest updates and have enabled any restricted drivers for your video adaptor. also check in preferences/appearance and make sure it set up to use the visual effects.
