i cannot get visual effects to activate.

Asked by sbudge

I work with dual monitors at work, but after i went to dual monitors and then back to one, i couldn't re-enable the visual effects in system>preference>appearance. i talked to one of our techs at work and he said that the problem was the visual memory requirments had changed. how do i change them back to default?

What changes did you make ? Try reverting those. It's hard to help you without knowing that.

Also find out what video card (make & model) you're using. Dual monitors work best in nvidia and ati when using their native configuration utilities.

All I did was apply dual monitors. That's it. I messed around with the recovery mode and tried a few things like "try to fix X server" and "repair packages, and it works now. I am using an HP nc6400, by the way.
