Visual Effects not working after upgrade to 8.10

Hi All
 I just upgraded to 8.10 all seems ok, but I can not get Visual Effects working again, so I have no desktop cube etc anymore.
I have the driver installed using envyNG and in Hardware Drivers it says they are working.
please help me to get it working again
