Compiz failing for more than one user

I'm new to linux, so I may be missing something obvious.

I've got Ubuntu Hardy and I installed Compiz recently. It worked perfectly fine for about a week. Yesterday I added a user for my girlfriend and showed her compiz. Once she had customized some of it and I had signed back into my account, Compiz and stopped working for me. All of the settings were innactive and changing them had no effect. I reinstalled Compiz and it seemed to work again. Today it stopped working and again it was only not working for my account.

Any idea what could be going on?

I have discovered my problem. It seems to only be an issue if a second user signs in without the previous user signing out. It's a slight inconvenience, but there isn't aver a time where I need to have both people signed in at the same time.
