Compiz Crashes When Screen is Locked

Asked by Neal Gamradt

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 with the default screen lock. I have an HP Elitebook that I mount to a docking station at work. I would say about half the time I unlock the system, Compiz/Unity has crashed. I can see the window I was last working in, but cannot move to other windows.

I am wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue. I have been told to ask questions here before putting in a bug report. Thanks.

To give some more detail on this issue, this only appears to happen if the screen has been locked for more than 15 minutes. It also doesn't appear to happen at all unless I am docked. Does Compiz have a good log that might show me what the issue is?

One last note, my "Screen" settings are set to:

Turn off after: 10 minutes

Lock: On

Lock screen after: Screen turns off

I am wondering if these settings could have any impact, like maybe this happens once it has tried to shut the screen off while locked or something.
