Does a reboot help. If you are a "noob to ubuntu", why are yo using the most unstable release!!? I strongly advise you install Maverick as it is stable and has drastically fewer issues which will ease you into the OS rather than the masses of troubles and issues which are still in Natty...

Hi,
I enter the Ubuntu page and said try Ubuntu 11.04 beta i get curious and installed it.

I search Internet and found how. I open terminal ctrl=alt=T, then enter ccsm this open compiz manager and then I could mark the check box to enable ubuntu unity plugin and restart and walla the desktop appear again.

thanks...

So basically I did the same thing. I've been using ubuntu for about a year now and upgraded to 11.04. I went to enable desktop cube and haphazardly disabled the unity plugin. After seeing everything disappear I reenabled both desktop wall and ubuntu unity plugin, but I am still missing the scroll bar in windowed mode and so do not have any way to move windows around. Also I cannot window a maxed window by dragging from the top bar. Is there any way to reset this or am i just screwed?

After replaced the graphic card from Nvidia to ATI (radeon 9550), it can't display desktop after a fresh installation. Just have the cursor. It went well in the installation process but once it boots up from hard drive, no desktop. I re installed a few times and from different copies of downloads but the result is the same. With Nvidia, there wasn't any problem at all.
specs:
ECS mother board
Intel dual core 2 (1.8 Gh)
2 Gh raam
ATI radeon 9550 AGP
IDE 100 Gh

I am new to linux. I think it must be the graphic card driver problem, but I don't know how to get into the screen and modify. There is no screen, no desktop.
