compiz package

compiz 64bit - maximizing.

I am using 10.04 64bit.

running 32bit live cd does not present the problem:
there is a momentary hang when maximizing windows
i also describe this bug in Bug #588982

entering the CLI text found here for disabling compiz causes problem to go away:

/usr/bin/metacity --replace &

assuming problem is only in 64bit, and maximizing is the only one i have found a problem with.

looking for more permanent method of disabling.

with metacity --replace, you temporarily substitute compiz with metacity, if you want a definitive solution remove compiz using synaptiuc package manager

i reinstalled the operating system (for other reasons) and this appears to have solved it, i do not know the cause of the problem (only suspect is a conflicting package) so leaving the "bug" open for now. the permanent method of disabling was removing the compiz package entirely.

other text which i think you removed when converting to a question was that during the hang i could click on the applications at the top and it would open after the hang was complete. and cannot move windows around during the hang.
