Remove window decoration

Asked by Pander

Hi all,

How can I remove windows decoration from GNOME Ambiance them that is shipped with light-themes package?

To be exact, to get rid of only the part with the bar with close, minimise and maximise buttons and the name of the window in order to get more space for the actual application.

Thanks,

Pander

I suspect editting or patching /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-2.0/gtkrc but more easy would be to add an option to Window Border in Custimize Theme of gnome-appearance-properties

I'm looking for a way to do this without the use of compiz by the way.

From what I understand one needs to comment out or remove options on window types and frames.

Was about to suggest exactly this. Anyway, Compiz+Unity will be standard in Natty where it will feature the so called 'Global menu' which is supposed to save space for applications.

Can you help with this problem?
