Martin,

If you want all of the compiz features, be sure to install the package compiz-fusion-plugins-extra hope that helps.

There is nothing to state anybody has to help you or reply to anything you post so you could wait forever, so posting stuff about taking too long makes you look like a fool as well as actually achieving nothing at all.

Compiz needs 3D accelleration so if you haven't setup your video card then you won't get compiz running. If your video chip cannot do 3D under Linux then it will never run.

Can you give the output of:
sudo lshw -C display; xrandr

Thanks

sudo lshw -C display; xrandr
gives me...

Compiz appears to work similarly to the way it did before the upgrade to Natty, but with some serious differences.

For it to be 'complete' for me, I'd need to restore the behaviour 'maximize_window_vertically' on clicking the titlebar (both horizontal and vertical settings are not working in compiz, only metacity... but 'roll-up' works perfectly

Okay - took only a second or two to run, I was expecting a 15 minute nap :P

ok was it a clean install or an upgrade?

It WAS an upgrade. Though since then, I threw a CD in and did an in-place
upgrade (different to the online one) and failed to boot - finally managed
it with an older kernel.

I think the maximise is a feature of the new environment, and stamps itself
upon gnome. (Correct behaviour for the netbook - double click the bar and it
merges with the top globalmenu bar).
