unable to activate compiz animations in lucid

Asked by Ian Brownlie

I have installed compiz config settings manager, and done all the things I have seen on tutorial. However, nothing. No 'magic lamp' no 'burn' in fact no anything. Could somebody help me please with a step by step guide and maybe I can see where I'm going wrong. Remember I'm a 66 year old non-geek. " Help Please"

Hello Ian,

1 - Please select System then Preferences then CompizConfig settings manager.
2 - In the settings manger under the category click on effects.
3 - click the check-box next to where it says "Paint Fire on the sceen"
4 - click the close button at the bottom left of the settings manger.

The default keys for activating the effect is <shift> and super key ( super key is the one with the windows logo on it ) so press and hold the shift key down, then while holding the shift key down press the super key then click and drag on the screen, You should see fire burn.

To stop the effect press shift key hold it down and press super key AND the letter 'c' key... good luck and let me know how it goes :-)
