saving visual effects permanently

Asked by Bob Pearson

Every time I restart or boot the computer I have to set the visual effects to normal in order to get the window maximize, minimize, and other window controls to work.

I understand that the answer is to add a line to compiz, but I have no idea how to edit compiz or where to find it.

Hope someone can help

add a startup item to run:

compiz --replace

This will make compiz run at startup.

Thanks actionparsnip for your prompt response, but I already know that I need to add that line.

My question is how do I do it?
