The cogito package in Hardy is missing?

Asked by AlexanderFaucher

When I upgraded to Hardy I watched the update remove the cogito package. Now I go to reinstall and it appears the package is not there. Was it renamed? Was it moved into another repo? I have all the repos outside proposed turned on.

Thanks,
Alex

Cogito was removed from Ubuntu, because it was removed from Debian and did not have an active maintainer anymore. According to the removal message it should be possible to use git-core instead of cogito.

See the removal message:

Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2007 11:15:06 +0000] [ftpmaster: Launchpad Archive Manager]
Removed the following packages from hardy:

    cogito | 0.18.2-3ubuntu2 | source, amd64, hppa, i386, ia64, lpia, powerpc, sparc

------------------- Reason -------------------
(From Debian) ROM; FTBFS, orphaned upstream, superseded by git-core

git-core does not provide cogito, cogito wraps git commands and simplifies the required arguements

thanks for getting back to me though.

The Git wiki has more information on this: http://git.or.cz/gitwiki/Cogito
