Codeblocks build with libgtk-2.0

Asked by sparky99

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if you (maintainers) could make an additional distro package of Codeblocks that is compiled and linked to libgtk-2.0 instead of gtk3?

I am having some problems with zooming in Codeblocks using the touchpad and it is making the code editor very difficult to use.

This issue seems related to libgtk-3.0 from this thread: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/1308 but there won't be a solution for this anytime soon.

I did download the sources for Codeblocks and wxWidgets then compiled and linked them to libgtk-2.0 and then the problem disappeared. It is crucial that wxWidgets is linked to libgtk-2.0!

Compiling codeblocks and it's dependencies is lengthy and toasty on a laptop, obviously. This is what I am hoping to avoid by suggesting and additional build.

The best way have a package revised is to file a bug report.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/codeblocks/+filebug
Try to include as much information in the bug report as possible.
Include any workarounds that may have helped or worked.
On Ubuntu 20.04 Codeblocks is: https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/codeblocks
For the new Ubuntu 22.04 [Development] Codeblocks is: https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/codeblocks
Which this package is still in development.

Can you help with this problem?
