Asked by Robert

Hi All

Are there plans for further develop the cockpit-project package for Ubuntu Focal?
The last version for Ubuntu Focal is 264-1 (focal-backports), which is way behind of the last version of cockpit.
In mean time was many fixes released, and added some features to cockpit, with are missing in Ubuntu Focal package.

Kind regards,
Robert

Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution. Packages can be left if there are no major issues.

If you report a bug and the security and bug fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner but the idea of the LTS is to be stable (No major version changes).

You may find a PPA for the version you want, here on launchpad.net, but this comes with the usual caveats of a PPA

Remember to filter the PPA for your release. Not all PPA support all releases of Ubuntu

If you upgrade your system from focal (20.04) to jammy (22.04), then you can easily get cockpit version 292-1 (via the backports repository).

Can you help with this problem?
