Update clive before 10.04?

Asked by Buzz

Is it possible that this will be updated before Lucid (i.e. available via apt-get update)? The "-f best" being broken seems problematic in version 2.2.4.

Bug Report may help to make it better.

don't think so, no bugs reported.

The bug has been reported upstream:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=545199

...and thus fixed in 2.2.7:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clive/2.2.7-1

So my question is about asking for it to be released before 10.04. I am not familiar release policies etc, but it seems like the upgrade could be released if it is stable.

Generally, packages stay at the same version until next release.

You have the following options:

1) File a bug about this problem and ask for it to be fixed in Karmic. The patch is here: http://repo.or.cz/w/clive.git/commitdiff/6e305f642654fd2398bdb0b0eb5eae354c73609a (Hint: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates)
2) Request a backport of 2.2.7 to Karmic (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports)
3) If you're brave enough, you can install 2.2.7 from source.
4) If you're even more brave, you can hack 2.2.4 already installed in your system according to the link above.

Can you help with this problem?
