Can't find Claws mail fancy plugin in packages ?

Asked by Peter R

When I search for the fancy plugin for Claws-Mail, it is not found

https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=claws-mail-fancy&searchon=names&suite=focal&section=all

"Sorry, your search gave no results"

The fancy plugin is included in source format in the Claws-Mail source, yet any attempt to obtain a DEB or similar results in dependencies errors. Please advise what is required to build the plugin.

That plugin is not provided in the Ubuntu packages any more.

Please see

"... The old webkit-gtk2 (used by fancy-plugin) is an unmaintained security nightmare
(dozens of unfixed remote exploits) ... "

According to bug #1724999 the claws-mail-dillo-viewer package can serve as replacement (not verified by me).

Ubuntu uses Enigmail, a Thunderbird add-on.
To replace claws mail for the reasons listed above.

Not very informed, Manfred. The newer gtk3 version of Claws Mail uses the newer webkit library for the Fancy plugin. You also have alternatives in the LiteHTML viewer plugin and the dillo browser plugin. (Verified)

Bernard, totally off the mark. enigmail is for encryption not viewing html mail, and Claws Mail's encryption support works fine.
