is there an anti virus for ubuntu 9.04

You can try clamav:
http://clamtk.sourceforge.net/index.html

To install, just search "clamav" and "clamtk" with Synaptic package manager, or just copy&paste next line on a Terminal (Applications - Accesories - Terminal)

sudo aptitude install clamav clamtk

should i let my computer all the updates it is requesting

how do i run the antivirus?im really lost when it comes to all this i just need to know how to get it to my desk top so i can run virus scans and such.thanks

Go to System>Administration then it should be under there.

i dont see it in there what is the name of the file or is there any other place it would be?
