Does ubuntu have a virus protection program or its own firewall?

I just want to know if ubuntu got protection against hackers and viruses like a program or its on firewall.

Yes it does, you can use clamav as an antivirus, and firestarter as a firewall ...
Search them in synaptic ...

But take care, Clamav can only detect viruses, it cannot remove them from files. It detects viruses on all platforms, but due to the popularity of the platform, it primarily detects Windows viruses and malware

Hi,
for further conclusion, a virus will be most likely for M$ systems, if you think about the impact that it's supposed to have. So it can be removed with programs of the mentioned system.
The sense of a scan from within a system is argueable anyway.
However if a *nix system is compromised it's rational to reinstall.
Apps like rkhunter or chkrootkit are an option for Ubuntu, but there is nothing which can replace brain 1.0.
