spreading of viruses in Ubuntu

if i plug a usb drive or insert a dvd containing windows viruses or other threats alongside the data running UBUNTU
they will not harm Ubuntu but could the automatically spread in windows partitions even if i don't copy data just play movie or open documents?

No as Ubuntu isn't Windows. You can even use Ubuntu to scan suspect devices without fear of breaking your OS.

they will not spread because windoze virii are written to exploit flaws in windoze coding. because linux is a completely different operatng system with different coding, virii will not spread.
