Asked by Danny Tenhoff

I have a virus on my dell laptop. I am using the ubuntu 10.10 os on it. I have tried to run the KlamAV and it will only go to 28% and then it stops scanning. I have been having troubles with it. I can't get into my home folder or any others. What can I do.

Please use from terminal:

sudo clamscan -i -r -bell /

To scan all systems files and to view only infected files if there are any

WTF??! That doesn't sound like Ubuntu! Are you running the program called Wine on your system? Wine is a program that lets you run many Microsoft Windows programs on your system

Hi Danny, can you describe the behavior of your computer, specifically your Ubuntu, and what you see in the file browser. I will first assume that this is not a virus in Ubuntu at all (since your Linux will most likely not be infected by a virus) but a Windows file. Can you send a screenshot?

Hello to all, To answer Marcobra I will try to scan the dell using the sudo clamscan! And to Jeb I know that is not what I wanted to see either when I ran the clam scan. I am not using wine on my dell only ubuntu 10.10. I am trying to get away from all thoughts windows viruses that is why I am using linux ubuntu. Now for jean I am running another clam scan and when all the viruses show up I will try and take a screen shot and send it. Thanks for the help I will let you know more. I will send the screen shot off my dell. Danny
