Avast anti-virus programme for Ubuntu 9.10

Asked by Michel Synnett

A friend gave me a link for the Free Avast anti-virus but I found out it was for the latest 10.04 version. ( I tried to load 10.04, but my machine is dated and will only work with 9.10.)

I can't seem to find the free version for my 9.10.

Can anyone help out, perhaps provide the correct link?

Thank you.

Thank you for the quick reply, it's much appreciated.

I have tried Clam AV before, but found it a bare-bones programme, whereas the little time I was able to operate 10.04 before it permanently froze on me, I got to use AVAST for a complete, thorough and comprehensive scan. I found it much, much superior...I only hope there's a version for my 9.10 operating system and that someone can point me in the correct direction.

Best regards,
