antivirus Mc Afee Total Security 1 Mc Afee Copy, Single System, 2 OSes?

Asked by Vir Rohit on 2010-10-09

I want to have Windows XP and Ubuntu at the same time on my Pentium 4 PC? I have purchased Mc Afee Total Security for my desktop. Will a single Mc Afee product work for both XP and Ubuntu on my system when these two operating systems co-exist on my system?

The Mcafee is for windows only and will not run on Ubuntu. You NOT NEED antivus:

The only real time you need it is if you run a mail server or if you are running a fileserver and have Windows clients, this will protect the clients from infecting each other via the server.

If you want AV then I recommed ClamAV. You will get faster updates with this command to add the clam av ppa:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-clamav/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install freshclam clamav; sudo freshclam

This will give the latest definitions and allow you to scan your PC for viruses, it should also be able to check the NTFS for windows viruses too :)

Can you help with this problem?
