Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

You need start Clamav from a Terminal with the command: gksudo clamav

This will give you sudo rights.

try this open clam click the help tab -then click about - there is a web site listed there click it , at the page it takes you to scroll down to download ubuntu/debain , click it to download the updates ,- save to download file . now close out everything . go to places -downloads - right click the file you just downloaded and install with getdeb package installer . it will say an older version is installed close it and install the newer download . then close and check .

I'm using kde.
When I had kubuntu 8.04 installed I was able to update my virus signatures using the gui (klamav).
I'm using the latest clamav since I have the ppa installed in my sources.
You can close this, I'll post to a ubuntu forum instead.
Thx for replying everyone.

Can you help with this problem?
