Chromium Browser update

Asked by Benjamin

Can someone please tell me why the Chromium browser keeps on coming up as an update in Update Manager? I have downloaded and installed it 4 or 5 times now. Every time it is 14MB, so it seems to be the same application every time.

How did you install chromium? Are you using the normal packages, or did you subscribe to a daily build?

If there is even the smallest change, and an update is posted, then the whole lot needs to be re-downloaded.

You can change the system-wide update policy if you need.
System > Administration > Software Sources then set it to whatever you like

Just to let you know, the changelog can be seen here, so you can find out roughly what the changes were (I am assuming you are running maverick).

OK thanks. I wasn't aware that the whole thing has to be re-downloaded every time.

I have been using open source software for about 2 years now. Thank-you to the people such as yourself who answer questions on this site and make using Ubuntu so much easier. Your assistance is genuinely appreciated.

If you are concerned about bandwidth, you may want to look into using debdelta. It looks interesting, and a similar thing is used by default in Fedora, but I have not tried it myself.
