License of snap-from-source repo

Asked by Lorenz

Under which license is the repository [1] which is used to build the chromium snap published?

I could not find any information on that or a license file within the repo.

Chromium is its default web browser. Google Chrome OS (closed-source) is based on Chromium OS."

Thank you for your quick reply, Bernard.

However, I am not looking for the license of chromium itself, but the repository, which includes the scripts Canonical uses to build the Chromium snap.

I could not find anything specific within Launchpad, but I don't know much about the platform. So I thought I'd ask around.

Maybe this information is just missing?

My guess:

When you open https://code.launchpad.net/~chromium-team/chromium-browser/+git/snap-from-source and click on "overview" in the top left corner, then you are forwarded to https://launchpad.net/chromium-browser

There you see:

Licence:
Simplified BSD Licence, Other/Open Source
(See http://code.google.com/chromium/terms.html)

Remark: The link quoted there redirects to https://www.chromium.org/

Maybe somebody from the https://launchpad.net/~chromium-team can tell better, you could try contacting them directly

Thank you, Manfred and Bernard, for your input.

I created a bug report [1], and Olivier Tilloy answered and added a LICENSE file. The repo is currently licensed under the 3-Clause BSD License.
