Doesn't like NBC Videos

Asked by Ronald L. Phelps

The news clips on an HP 2550 pc w/ Ubuntu 12.04 won't load and play MSNBC News Clips (ie Morning Joe, Rachel Maddow, etc) with Chromium Browser, but Firefox is OK but haltingly, not smooth. Codec's or source not compatible, or streaming source problem. Or are updates to Chromium available?

Do you have the flash player installed?
If you are unsure, please open the software center and install the package named "ubuntu-restricted-extras". You can find it best with the search field.
This will install flash, several video codec and all kind of other useful stuff, that is not free software.

Thanks Thomas! The package you mentioned is installed. The problem only appears from NBC News and MSNBC Video sites. The Streaming from ABC, CBS, FOX, HULU and many others works great. I guess I'll view the others on a Windows PC. Why content streaming is different from those particular sources to a Linux OS PC using Chromium, is a puzzle. Those sources may have issues. MSN News runs great too.

The page code for the sites was written so the video display appeared at several places in the browser window with an animated video streaming icon in each. Not on the Firefox browser, tho'. I'll uninstall and re-install the Chromium Browser again later.

Can you help with this problem?
