what should i need to do regarding using the chromium browser

I get my updates from update manager sothey are all ready for me to install,uploading in the corner of my ubuntu, 12.04lucid, i am stil currently using firefox, I am wondering hoping more like it, that i do not have to do much, to use this new browser, and that everything will go ahead with no worries, and not have to uninstall firefox.
 my pc came with google chrome but will not work with google chrome, so minor hiccup, anway, as i am not worried about that anyway, but I am interested in using the new chromium, and it my pc suggests that I already have a version installed, so once again I am not sure how to use that either.

Can you help me, to find the answer to install the newset version, of chromium, see I look at it like this if it aint broken don't fix it, all replies sent to me will be of most help many thanks for reading this.

First of all you wrote "12.04 Lucid" and this is wrong. You must clarify what version of Ubuntu you use.
Lucid = 10.04 LTS (end of support in about 2 months) = Bad !

12.04 = Precise Pangolin (end of support in April 2017) = Good !

If you have 12.04 , then open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and apply the command below

~$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall chromium-browser

it will ask for your password , write it carefully because nothing will show up (like no writing).

Above command will install (or re-install) the chromium browser. Then you will be able to use it.

If you have a problem to use chromium then write in terminal

~$ chromium-browser

and post back here all the messages you received.
