chrome browser crashes lubuntu

Asked by Leo Newburn

I wasn't getting sound in lubuntu 11.10....long story short I ended up reinstalling lubuntu and sound works fine. But, a new problem emerged. Every time I clicked on the Chrome browser, my system locked up.

Another long story short...I removed Chrome and installed Firefox=problem solved! I am now online.

Thought I'd share my experience with anyone out there who can be assisted by it. ;o)

I'll now post a different thread w/a different question.

Hello Leo,
are you asking for any type of assistance, or are you just sharing your experience and what you did to fix your issue?

I was just sharing my experience and the way I fixed my problem. I'm new here and .....perhaps I should use a different venue for this type of thing?

I installed Firefox after removing Chrome, and it looked like that solved my system crashing problem. Well, I (daily) experience my system locks up on my first attempt to use my browser (Firefox). Then, only by powering off my computer with the power button, and then entering the "safe" mode of Lubuntu, and "repairing broken packages", am I able to finally start internet browsing. these symtoms are similar to what I had with Chrome, but not as frequent or troublesome when I use Firefox instead.
