How to install Chirp downloaded from the website official on Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04

Asked by Wilson jogos

How to install Chirp downloaded from the official website on Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 operating system?

We downloaded it from the official CHIRP website, but on Windows just run it as Administrator mode in *.EXE and we will start the installation procedure.
But how to install it on Linux Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04?

We will download this version:

https://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_next/next-20231125/

But how do you install this:
chirp-20231125.tar.gz

And also how to install it:
chirp-20231125-py3-none-any.whl

When you download chirp from a foreign source, then you have to ask there, how to install it.

Ubuntu provides a package in its own repositories, which can be installed with the package management programs, either search for it in the software center or install it with the command
sudo apt install chirp
(Note: The version in the Ubuntu repositories is not the very newest one.)

Shows how to use the whl file but using the package from the default repositories as Manfred says is far easier.

Can you help with this problem?
