Webcam does not work properly

Asked by Eberhard

I have a 1,3 M digicam which can be used as a webcam and which is detected as such by cheese but cheese regularly breaks down when I try to capture a video or a photo... sometimes even the whole system breaks down and the screen shows some colorful random picture... Skype also detects the cam but shows no image at all. I use a Toshiba p4010 subnotebook with 512 MB Ram and a DVD drive.
Thank you,
Eberhard

All I can find is this:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/mandriva-30/after-update-i-cant-see-my-fuji-digital-camera-anymore-748603/

I'd log a bug, also, try running cheese from the terminal. When it crashes, add the outout in the terminal as information.

Can you help with this problem?
