ron,

it is good style to write down what you want in whole sentences and as a whole text and not to dump out one liners.

In common you do not have to install drivers for your devices. The linux kernel (core of Ubuntu) is providing all drivers for your system.

I prefer to use the program "digicam" which should be able to access all common webcams(installes with the kde enviroment -> BIG install!).

There are for sure other programs arround, please have a look.
