My webcam works in Cheese but not on google chat

Hi, I'm fairly new to ubuntu. I'm running 10.04 on an HP Pavilion dm1. My webcam has been working just fine whether through cheese or on google chats, but until recently (since i did an update through the update manager) it has not been working through google chats. it still works on cheese though. i can't tell if its a driver issue or something else. any tips?

I haven't tried it, and i haven't had luck locating that particular program. where can i get it?

is there a way around this without changing OS versions?

The newer version has newer kernel and drivers. May help
