I have loaded the ubuntu os into my toshiba satellite L500 laptop and cannot access the computers webcam. Any clues as to how to get it working again plz?

I need to get the webcam on my toshiba L500 laptop working again since loading ubuntu I cannot do this. How do i do this plz? Also when I try to install software that has been downloaded off the net it keeps telling me there is a problem reading certain files in the archive manager any clues?

Hi Mike,
it is always better to use "Ubuntu Software Center" or "Synaptic Package Manager" to install/remove any application. You can find them via menu system (if you cannot find them, let us know exact version of Ubuntu that you are using).

1. for your web camera install and try application named: cheese
2. retry installing the application you mentioned via "Ubuntu Software Center"
