Cheese will not launch on Kubuntu 11.10

Asked by Benton W Middleton

Running Kubuntu 11.10 on a P-4 with 1.5mhz CPU and 768mb RAM. I need a program that allows me to record from a webcam, Cheese seems to be the only option available, but it will not launch on Kubuntu. I understand Cheese is a Gnome program, but I use KDE, so is there another suitable program available that WILL launch on Kubuntu?

Cheese should work under KDE.
Could you open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command:
   cheese

Thanks to everyone who helped me here and offered advice. But I don't think Ubuntu was meant to even have a KDE version, and I have had several issues, not just with my webcam.

This PC will not run newer Fedora, and I can't afford a new one right now, so I guess this weekend I'll just say goodbye to Kubuntu and go back to VectorLinux-SOHO-6.0, which is what I was using previously. At least with Vector, programs DID LOAD and DID STAY installed as well.

Folks, It's been lovely... but not THAT lovely.

Later...........................................................>>>!

Can you help with this problem?
