If you install and run cheese, do you see yourself?

I already installed cheese and I get the error message "no camera found". I cannot see myself once cheese does not detect the cam.

Can you reboot and run:

dmesg > ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt; gedit ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt

What is output?

Thanks

there is no comma in my command. If you mangle the commands I give you WILL get issues. I give the EXACT command so you can copy and paste the command. This significantly reduces human error.

did it! The msitake was in my post.

in fact I copy & past your command line. The exact output is as follows:

xico@ubuntu:~$ dmesg > ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt; gedit ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt
bash: /home/xico/Desktop/dmesg.txt: Ficheiro ou directoria inexistente ==translation==> "File or folder does not exist"

Then it opened an empty .txt file

thanks

Looks like it's not picking up. There is no mention of a webcam in any of that
