If you run:

skype

in a terminal, what is the output when you try the webcam. Skype is notoriously annoying at webcams and makes webcams which DO work in ANY other app not work. Skype is completely frustrating like this and I wish people would drop it and use decent protocol like ekiga

Can you help with this problem?
