Once installed you should find the launcher in Applications - Education - Celestia

You don't need to download anything to installed because it's in the repositories; search it in Synaptic or via apt...

Open a Terminal (Applications - Accesories - Terminal) and...
sudo aptitude install celestia

Or follow this link with apt-url;
http://appnr.com/install/celestia-gnome

I have installed celestia by following the link http://appnr.com/install/celestia-gnome and it runs, but the movement is delayed and very jerky. and not as seamless as it should be. I would also like to install and run Google Earth

To install Google-Earth:
sudo aptitude install googleearth

If you want the latest versión:

1. Download Google Earth to your desktop.
2. Go to Applications > Accessories > Terminal.
3. Type in cd ~/Desktop
4. Type in sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin

*** If you have delays or any other issues with GoogleEarthLinux too, probably it is a problem with your graphical driver. If this is the case, open another question (with detailed info about your system, your graphical chipset, and a the issues you are experimenting, etc)
