Unable to install and setup Ceilometer for Openstack Victoria

Asked by Shamika Joshi

Hi,

I am doing minimal deployment of Openstack Victoria(on Ubuntu 20.04) and need telemetry service working with it.
I have set up keystone, glance, nova, horizon and placement services.
I am following installation document: https://docs.openstack.org/ceilometer/victoria/install/install-base-ubuntu.html

Firstly, when I install python-gnocchiclient, it gives me error "Unable to locate the package". I installed 'python3-gnocchiclient'.
I did all the steps exactly from the installation guide. But 'service gnocchi-api restart' doesn't work.

After finishing installation when I run 'ceilometer-upgrade'. I always get '504 gateway timeout'.
I really need telemetry working on my Openstack as soon as possible.

Request you to help me with proper steps/suggestions/modifications.

Thanks,
Shamika

The package is in Focal. I suggest you review your package sources
https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/python3-gnocchiclient

I suggest that you contact openstack.org and ask them how to proceed. The instructions that do not work come from them and not from Ubuntu.

I see that you already created a bug report in the Openstack - ceilometer area, Bug #1949305

You might try the contact addresses shown there:

"If you have a troubleshooting or support issue, use the following resources:

 - The mailing list: https://lists.openstack.org
 - IRC: 'openstack' channel on OFTC"
